giving back
Since 2013, our founder Dave Ewing has volunteered as a coordinator & judge for the California State Advertising Design contests through SkillsUSA. He & his team of judges, along with passionate educators develop workshops, presentations, portfolio & resumé reviews that are focused on getting students ready for the job day one.
13.6 million members over the last 50 years
Not only does Dave believe in the mission of SkillsUSA, but in the heart & spirit of volunteerism. In 2021, the entire crew will be donating time for the virtual regional & state competitions. Mike Rowe’s WORKS Foundation & Harbor Freight Tools are some of the financial sponsors for the program. We encourage you to read more about them & even get involved.
“I have watched Dave give back to young designers by donating his time to the California SkillsUSA program. More than just a competition, Dave & his team create a comprehensive experience for all participants. All students get insightful feedback that helps them understand what will make their work better. Their willingness to give back on their own dime speaks volumes about Dave’s character.”

Mission Statements
SkillsUSA is a national nonprofit organization serving middle school, high school and college students who are preparing for careers in trade, technical and skilled service occupations. SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce.
SkillsUSA is an applied method of instruction for preparing America’s high-performance workers in public career and technical programs. We provide quality education experiences for students in leadership, teamwork, citizenship and character development. We build and reinforce self-confidence, work attitudes and communications skills.
SkillsUSA empowers its members to become world-class workers, leaders and responsible American citizens. SkillsUSA improves the quality of our nation’s future skilled workforce through the development of Framework skills that include personal, workplace and technical skills grounded in academics.
“The skills gap is not only real, it's a reflection of what we value. To close the gap, we need to change the way the country feels about work. My foundation supports SkillsUSA because it celebrates the kind of skills that are actually in demand… SkillsUSA works.”
